چکیده

Conventional gasoline engines suffer from low performance and NOx emissions. Controlled auto-ignition (CAI), sometimes referred to as homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI), is a promising concept solve such problems. CAI has the potential improve spark (SI) engine fuel economy while at same time solving trade-off of NOx-soot emissions found in (CI) engines. The can reach comparable that conventional diesel with ultra-low negligible soot However, controlling remains biggest difficulty hinders implementation commercial engine. Research towards cleaner more efficient driven by progressively stringent emission regulation imposed worldwide. Therefore, was developed meet target maintaining performance. works on principle lean mixture auto-ignition. To obtain combustion, temperatures cylinder must be sufficient initiate Without use plug or injector, suffers direct control mechanism start combustion. most practical approach initiation diluting intake either trapping residual gas recirculating exhaust gas. Both approaches enable achieve combustion without requiring significant modifications onset phase.

Microwave assisted ignition to achieve combustion synthesis

The use of microwave heating to initiate combustion synthesis has been increasingly investigated in recent years because of its advantages over traditional methods. A simple mathematical model is used to model these experiments. The microwave power absorption term is modelled as the product of an Arrhenius reaction term with a function that decays exponentially with distance. The former represe...

Performance and Emissions of a 4- Cylinder Gasoline Engine with Controlled Auto-Ignition

Advanced combustion modes such as Controlled Auto-Ignition or Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition have been under much attention due to their ability to reduce both emissions and fuel consumption. Thus, this paper aims at demonstrating the achievement of Controlled Auto-Ignition combustion on a standard 4-cylinder gasoline engine with negative valve overlap (NVO) and analyzing its performan...

A Study of Cavitation - Ignition Bubble Combustion

We present the results of an experimental and computational study of the physics and chemistry of cavitation-ignition bubble combustion (CIBC), a process that occurs when combustible gaseous mixtures are ignited by the high temperatures found inside a rapidly collapsing bubble. The CIBC process is similar to that in a diesel engine. However, the length scales are very small (μm to nm) and the t...
